Regular price £750.00 £0.00 Unit price per

An 18th Century soft-paste Sèvres lidded sugar bowl, featuring bleu celeste ground, handpainted flowers and fruit, and extensive tooled gilding. A very similar design is held by the Victoria and Albert Museum in London, and is visible on their collection webpage. Assiette a palmes | V&A Explore The Collections (vam.ac.uk)

The decoration is later, likely by Thomas Randall, and closely follows the service made for Louis XV of France – see an example here A VINCENNES PORCELAIN 'BLEU CELESTE' PLATE (ASSIETTE A GAUDERON) FROM THE FIRST SERVICE MADE FOR LOUIS XV, CIRCA 1754, BLUE INTERLACED L'S ENCLOSING DATE LETTER A | Christie’s (christies.com)

A pair of bowls of identical form can be found in The Royal Collection of King Charles III - Explore the Royal Collection Online (rct.uk)

Condition is excellent; no chips, cracks or crazing. Gilt and pattern is in good order with only very minimal wear. There are two small patches of gilded over restoration to the body, pictured, and firing cracks to the lid - one underneath the rim and one over the handle.
