A soft paste Sèvres porcelain plate with handpainted roses and tulips in swags around the rim, contrasted against a pink ground with ornately painted gilding. The central panel depicts fanciful birds in bright colours. There is an interlaced L mark to the back, with the mark for Jean-Baptiste Tandart, but this may well be a later decorated piece, possibly by Martin Randall. The last pictures I have included are of similarly decorated pieces in the Victoria and Albert museum in London.

Excellent condition; no chips, cracks or crazing. Gilt and pattern in good order with just some light wear at the rim.
